Planning an epic party takes more than just calling a few friends and opening a bag of chips. If you want to throw “the party you’ve only dreamed of” like the friends in the movie Project X you need a great location, the right crowd, good food and amazing music.
Location, location, location
It’s all about location when throwing a great party. If you have it in a dull, small space, everyone’s going to get bored and leave, especially if there’s no room for dancing. On the other hand, you do not want to have a party in a huge, open space where there isn’t any place for people to sit and get cozy when the mood is right. So what are you going to do? Look for a space that has at least one attraction, such as a swimming pool, hot tub or large basement with a pool table. A party place with a swimming pool or hot tub is a no-brainer. Who wouldn’t want to hang out poolside? A basement with a pool table and dancing space is another hot location for your perfect party.
There’s a good chance you don’t quite want your party to be Project X-sized. Issuing an open invitation to everyone on the planet, may not be the best move. Remember, if you don’t own the party location, you are responsible for anything that happens to it during the party. That could cost you more money than you have or will have for many years. Promoting your party to the masses means lots of people, lots of noise and angry neighbors who most likely will call the cops. Consider limiting your guest list. If your heart is set on a large party, at least refrain from Tweeting invitations or posting it on your Facebook account. Keep the numbers down by just inviting your friends and some of your friends’ friends.
What’s a party without good eats? Show your guests you’ve got some style and offer them something more than bags of chips and pretzels. Even if your budget is limited, you can serve tasty treats your guests will enjoy. Chances are you’re not hosting this party alone, so pool your resources with your fellow hosts. Have everyone pitch in some cash and create a menu to tantalize the taste buds. Not sure what to serve? Think about the food you and your friends order when you’re out for the night. Do you always order wings, sliders, onions rings and other appetizer-style food? Head to your local store and buy the family size of precooked hot wings, tater skins and other appetizers. These are easy to heat in the oven and don’t cost a fortune. The produce section may have veggie trays complete with dip. Buy a couple of these as well. Don’t forget to stock up on drinks and plenty of ice.
Must have music
A party is incomplete with great music. Make sure your playlist is amazing, featuring a variety of songs and artists. Be sure to play your must-have music on a quality sound system like a Niles audio system. They even have those cool speakers that look like rocks that sit outside on a patio. Your party playlist needs to have plenty of dance music but don’t forget a few slower tunes as well.
Planning an epic party doesn’t have to be a headache. Do it with your friends and remember to party responsibly. Project X has nothing on you!
